Although this short tour was conceived for individuals or couples wanting a fascinating insight into the Yala National Park, it is, in fact, perfect for small groups of enthusiasts wishing to experience the thrill of seeking out the elusive Leopard and gaining an overview of this amazing eco-system. Yala has one of the highest densities of Leopard in the world, therefore giving a good chance of actually seeing this rare mammal. Cameras are essential!

DAY 1 . To Colombo
Departure on direct SriLankan scheduled flight to Colombo.
DAY 2 . Colombo
Arrive in Colombo and transfer to Taj Samudra Hotel. City tour of Colombo – places to see include Galle Face,The Dutch Reform Church, the Pettah bazaar and the Hindu Temple at Kochchikade.
DAY 3 . To Yala
Drive down the coast to Yala stopping en route to see a Turtle Hatchery and the famous Stilt Fisher men. Optional lunch at the LightHouse Hotel in Galle. Stay four nights at the Yala Safari Game Lodge.
DAY 4 . Yala
Morning Safari to the Park with picnic breakfast. Trail Leopard - visiting places where they are found regularly in caves and on rock outcrops including: “Koti-gala” and ”Pandi-Kema.” Return to the Lodge perhaps for a dip in the pool and lunch before an afternoon Safari once again seeking out the shy Leopards.
DAY 5 . Yala
Morning Safari to the Park with picnic breakfast. Look out for Elephant, Jackal, Mongoose and, of course, the Leopard. Return to the Lodge for lunch. Final afternoon Safari. Birdlife abounds in the park including Babblers, Storks, Egrets and glorious rainbow coloured Kingfishers.
DAY 6 . Yala
Morning walk on the hotel's nature trail with the Resident Naturalist. Explore a number of habitats including sea, lagoon, mud flats and scrub jungle. Afternoon to relax by the pool or walk the shores beside the Indian Ocean.
DAY 7 . To Colombo
After breakfast depart to Colombo stopping to visit the lovely old sea port of Galle with its nostalgic colonial air, and the mask making in Ambalangoda. Overnight Mount Lavinia Hotel.
DAY 8 . To London
Depart to London on direct SriLankan scheduled flight with same day arrival. If you wish to add a Beach or Cultural extension please ask for details.
