To Bangkok Morning depart from London Heathrow on direct Thai Airways flight to Bangkok. Day 2. Bangkok Met on arrival and transferred to the hotel. Later visit the Grand Palace, once the main Royal residence, and see the Emerald Buddha in the Wat Phra Si Rattana Satsadaram, Thailand’s holiest Temple. Evening relax with a 4 course set dinner at the Vertigo Moon Bar at the Banyan Tree Bangkok. Day 3. To Siem Reap - Sunset visit to Angkor Wat After breakfast transfer to the airport to board Bangkok Airlines flight to Siem Reap. Met on arrival then transferred to the hotel. Late afternoon viewing of the Angkor Temples from Phnom Bakeng Hill, to watch the sun slip slowly from the sky: spreading an ethereal glow over the beautiful Temples. Two nights La Residence d’ Angkor. Day 4. Full day guided tour of Angkor Wat Full day guided tour of Angkor Wat, the crown jewel of Khmer architecture, and now, the national symbol. Escorted by a personal guide explore the wonders of the World Heritage site, built for King Suryavarman II in the early 12th C. as his state Temple and capital city. Later helicopter flight over the amazing complex, to appreciate the sheer size and beauty of this archaeological wonder. Morning drive to the airport to board Vietnam Airlines flight to Ho Chi Minh City. Met on arrival and transferred to the hotel. Evening dinner aboard a traditional Bonsai River Cruiser. Two nights Park Hyatt. Day 6. Excursion to Cai Be floating market After breakfast take a boat trip on the Mekong River to Cai Be floating market - lunch at a local restaurant. Day 7. Ho Chi Minh City tour and Nha Trang Morning city tour through the heart of the city along Dong Khoi Street (formerly Rue Catinat), past the Rex Hotel, Ho Chi Minh Square, Municipal Theatre and the Notre Dame Cathedral. Visit the Reunification Palace (formerly the Presidential Palace) and War Remnants Museum, before driving to Cholon, the Chinatown district of the city. Bargain in the vast Binh Tay wholesale market for souvenirs, before visiting the ornate Thien Hau Temple, dedicated to the Goddess of the Sea. Afternoon transfer to the airport to board Vietnam Airlines flight to Nha Trang. Met on arrival and transferred to the hotel. Three nights Six Senses Hideaway, Ninh Van Bay. Day 8 & 9. Nha Trang Two days at leisure, to simply relax and unwind: walking on the pristine white sands of the South China Sea, maybe indulging in some sybaritic therapy in the Spa or, if feeling energetic, learning how to windsurf. Day 10. To Hoi An via Danang After breakfast transfer to the airport to board Vietnam Airlines flight to Danang. Met on arrival and transfer to Hoi An. Three nights The Nam Hai Resort. Day 11. Morning walking tour After breakfast take a walking tour of Hoi An visiting the Japanese covered bridge, Sa Huynh Museum with its unique insight into Hoi An’s history, the Tran Family Chapel and finally a lantern making workshop. Day at leisure, maybe playing a round of golf on the 18 hole Colin Montgomerie course, unwind in the spa or take a dip in the warm sea. Day 13. To Hanoi Morning transfer to Danang to board Vietnam Airlines flight to Hanoi. Met on arrival and transferred to the hotel. Two nights Sofitel Legend Metropole Hotel. Day 14. Hanoi - Guided city tour, water puppet display After breakfast guided tour of Hanoi visiting the Ho Chi Minh Quarter, including the Mausoleum, Ho Chi Minh’s house, and the One Pillar Pagoda. Continue to the Temple of Literature, and then the infamous ‘Hanoi Hilton’ prison. In the evening see a unique display of water puppetry. Evening dinner at the Nineteen 11 restaurant. Day 15. To Halong Bay An early start this morning to Halong Bay. On arrival at Tuan Chau Island board the Paradise Cruise boat. Halong Bay achieved international fame as a key location in the French film ‘Indochine’ starring Catherine Deneuve. Considered Vietnam’s greatest natural wonder, Halong Bay boasts over 3,000 islands that jut out of the sea, providing a spectacular natural setting. Explore its caves and cool down, swimming in one of the many secluded bays. Overnight Paradise Cruise boat. Day 16. To Hanoi - Tai Chi class Before breakfast attend an early morning Tai Chi class on the sundeck. Disembark the cruise and return back to Hanoi. Overnight Sofitel Legend Metropole Hotel. Day 17. To Vientiane Morning transfer to the airport to board Vietnam Airlines flight to Vientiane. Met on arrival and transferred to the hotel. Later tour the highlights of the city, including Pha That Luang; a gleaming golden stupa, considered the most important national monument in Laos; Ho Pha Keo, the formal Royal Temple, but now a museum with beautiful examples of Buddhist sculpture; Wat Si Saket; and Patuxai, a monumental arch inspired by the Arc de Triomphe, but executed with Lao motifs. Overnight Settha Palace Hotel. Day 18. To Luang Prabang - afternoon sightseeing tour After breakfast transfer to the airport to board Lao Airlines flight to Luang Prabang. Afternoon sightseeing tour of Luang Prabang including The Haw Kham Royal Palace Museum and the Wat Xieng Thong Temple. Three nights La Residence Phou Vao. Day 19. Morning Alms giving, River cruise, Pak Ou caves At dawn witness the daily morning alms giving as hundreds of monks, of all ages, file silently by collecting gifts of food from devotees. After breakfast, take a cruise down the jungle fringed river, visiting colourful local villages and the Pak Ou Caves filled with hundreds of Buddha statues. Day 20. Excursion to Kuang Si waterfall and Ban Muang Khai Morning drive to the picturesque multi-tiered Kuang Si Waterfall tumbling over limestone formations into a series of turquoise pools – don’t forget a swimsuit! Also visit the local village of Ban Muang Khai. Day 21. To London via Bangkok Morning transfer to the airport to board Lao Airlines flight to Bangkok and connect onto Thai Airways flight back to London. * Extensions can be arranged for beach breaks in Thailand & Vietnam.
