India holiday- January 2010 Hi Yasin You asked me to report on our holiday and, in particular, on our success in finding my mother's grave in Mumbai. The holiday was great and very well organised. The drivers and guides, particularly Ramesh who was with us from from Agra to Delhi via Jaipur, Shahpura and Udaipur, were helpful and efficient. And the hotels exceeded our expectations. We would never have found my mother's grave without your help. BACSA, the charity you advised us to contact, pointed us to Sewree cemetery and there, indeed, we found her grave. The burial was recorded with a plot number and we were taken through a well maintained cemetery to the exact spot where she was buried 68 years ago. Some of the other graves in the immediate vicinity of my mother's had been overlain by later burials as they were more than 50 years old; but my mother's had a tree growing from it.. I'll be writing to BACSA and sending them photos as they are in the process of recording ex-pat graves around the world and have not yet done Sewree. Thanks again for a great holiday.
