This will be a truly memorable journey, off the beaten track, through
the lands of Arunachal Pradesh. Here you will see the timeless
lifestyle of some of the 125 different tribes people. Wander in
mountains and jungles of the rain forests of the Eastern Himalayas,
cruise the waters of the mighty Brahmaputra River and delight in the
diversity of the flora and fauna of the Kaziranga National Park. Do
remember to bring a few woollies as its gets cold in Ziro!

DAY 1 . To Kolkatta (Calcutta)
Depart Heathrow on British Airways flight to Kolkatta.
DAY 2 . Kolkatta
Arrive Kolkatta in the morning and transfer to the Taj Bengal Hotel.
Afternoon visit to Jain Temple, Victoria Memorial and National Museum.
DAY 3 . To Guwahati
Morning flight to Guwahati the capital of Assam.
Afternoon visit the Kamakhaya Kali Temple, centre of Tantric Hinduism
followed by a cruise on the mighty Brahmaputra River. Overnight at the
Ashok
Brahmaputra.
DAY 4 . To Tezpur
Morning drive to Tezpur, a city steeped in legend
and folklore. Afternoon free to visit local market full of colour and vivacity. Overnight Luit Hotel.
DAY 5 . To Itanagar
Morning drive to Itanagar staying at the Donyi Polo Hotel. In the late
afternoon visit the Buddhist Monastery, consecrated by the Dalai Lama,
reflecting the Tibetan influence in the area.
DAY 6 . To Ziro
After a morning visit to the Tribal Museum in Itanagar – an extensive
ethnographic collection devoted to the local Tribes people, including
woodcarvings, textiles and archaeological finds – drive onto Ziro. Stay
for two nights at the Circuit House.
DAY 7 . Ziro
A fascinating full day excursion visiting the Nishing and Apatani tribe
villages. Experience their ancient way of life – look out for the
special local method of rice cultivation, the intriguing bamboo
nosepieces worn by the Apatani women, and the ‘long houses‘ of the
Nishing. Also visit the Craft Centre and Emporium and see traditional
methods of weaving/handicrafts.
DAY 8 . To Daparijo
Morning drive to Daparijo on the banks of the
Subansiri River visiting Nishing and Hill Miri tribes en route. Spend two nights at the Circuit House.
DAY 9 . Daparijo
An enthralling day visiting Tagin and Adi Gallong
tribes. See how these people still maintain their
independence and follow Tribal customs.
DAY 10 . To Along
Drive to the small town of Along visiting Adi Gallong tribes en route. Overnight at The Lodge.
DAY 11 . To Pasighat
Delightful drive winding up to Pasighat visiting Adi Minyong Tribes en route. Overnight Circuit House.
DAY 12 . To Kaziranga
Morning drive to the riverbank to board the ferry
to Dibrugarh, and thence on to Kaziranga, staying for three nights at
the Wild Grass Hotel. Here there will be full daily programmes of game
drives and elephant safari in the National Park originally established
back in 1908. Marshland, grassland, and tropical semi-evergreen forests
on the southern banks of the Brahmaputra, give this Park an excellent
eco-diversity. 1,000 one-horned rhino now flourish. Swamp deer,
elephant, leopard, bison, wild buffalo and tiger all roam freely in the
sanctuary as well as a host of birds including the pelican.
DAY 13 . Kaziranga

Drive to Guwahati and connect to Kolkatta flight.
Overnight at Taj Bengal.
DAY 16 . To London
Morning departure for same day arrival at Heathrow on British Airways.
